I think he can a Marwin-type player for a year or two before taking over for 3B and shift Bregman to SS
Hidden in the absurd offense is the fact that Greinke went 6.0 innings only surrendering 2 hits and nothing else. JV, GC, and ZG have allowed a total of 2 runs in 21 combined IP in the past three games. In that span, they've collectively allowed 1 BB and 7 H and struckout 27 batters.
Oh, my, they actually lost. They were leading with 6 seconds left. If the Texans had only scored as many points as the Astros scored runs in the past two games, they'd have won.
What got into Cheerios?! Remember the strikeouts, hitting into the double plays, what happened to him? Guess he ate his Wheaties!
The Texans defense is like a screen door on a submarine. They can't rush, they can't cover, they can't stop anything. It was almost like the Saints were running plays in practice.
Greinke could’ve gone deeper too - just 73 pitches. This has been much needed rest for the pen arms. Hinch basically got a full reset. Also, the Astros offense has done this without Correa or Gurriel. Bonkers.
3 Ks, 1 2B, 1 BB. He's got a very live arm that's sometimes a little wild, but he kept it together enough to keep control of the situation. He did quite well.
No team in MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY has hit 6 HRs in the first two innings. Just last week, no two pitchers in MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY had thrown back-to-back 14 strikeout games. This team is crazy.
Stros left 10 on base Sunday, only 2 tonight. I respect the increased efficiency. I wonder what the MLB record for impressiveness is for total asswhippings in back-to-back games?
Efficient pitching too. Team faced only 3 over the minimum tonight in a shutout. Last night was only one over the minimum. Verlander was the slacker 2 days ago — 5 over the minimum. That’s almost as impressive as the offensive ass-kickings. The As are a very good team, on pace for 95 wins — the Astros have now doubled up their run differential (255 to 123).
