Question...is there a rule (unwritten or otherwise) that, if the ball gets by an outfielder like that and the hitter scores, that it will never be called an error? It seems like the center fielder botched it. I'm just curious.
Usually depends whether the fielder touches the ball or not. I don't agree with it for the reason you stated, but that's how it's called. Said rule becomes even more silly when an infielder airballs a popup. Batter is awarded a hit.
Its an unwritten rule... that was going to be a hit regardless, and if a CF tries to dive to make an impossible play, its not an "error" (even though its a huge error in judgement). This is also a perfect example of why Laureano isn't an elite CF, despite his highlight throws and catches.
I think he had mixed reviews earlier in his tenure. I have no idea how good his judgement is relative to other 3rd base coaches but I guarantee the Astros do and they seem to be happy with him.
It's to the point where I kinda hope he goes back to the mean a bit right before the playoffs because I just can't imagine any player sustaining this for the rest of the season and in to the postseason. It's absurd at this point. Yuli this hot in the postseason is going to win us a WS.
Windmill seems to work more. 2015-2016, it was brutal. Not sure if he's gotten better or OF throwing accuracy has gotten worse.
Exactly this. He's not doing anything that the Stros don't want him to, or he'd get replaced. Best hitters he played with, while (I think) Yordan was at bat
I got interested, and it looks like Bagwell never got an inside-the-parker in his 449 HRs. That surprises me.
