Still, he's got to be one of the better baserunners for the Astros. It would not surprise me if someone like McCann was one of Astros top base runners just out of not getting thrown out doing something stupid. That may be a bit much but expect vast majority of team has been a negative on bases.
You also have to keep in mind the alternative -- Kemp was pinch running for Beltran. You put him out there to go first to third on a single, or potentially score on a double. Beltran's not doing that at age 40 (as we unfortunately saw earlier in the game).
I guess we're just gonna keep doing the Correa in the cleanup role then. I guess there's no better time to let him work out his problems than when we're winning 2/3 games every series.
arguing about tony kemp's base running is pointless. When you leave runners on third with less than two outs, that is why you loose games.
Base running and base stealing are two entirely different things. ThaDude was advocating for a stolen base. While Kemp has 100+ minor league stolen bases, last year, between Fresno and Houston, he had 12 steals and was caught 9 times. As xcrunner posted, Kemp was in there to take that extra base on a hit. A stolen base, especially with Gurriel up was not in the plans. Kemp is certainly one of the fastest guys on the team, but to criticize the team for not attempting to steal in that situation, is unwarranted. Of course in hindsight, they should have attempted a steal regardless of who was on base. They should also have intentionally walked Lowrie in the 4th.
And maybe they can desi And maybe they can designate Sipp to intentionally walk Khris Davis today...just so Hinch can say he used him.

I only commented on your sentence that discussed Kemp's "base running abilities" not translating to the majors as indicated by only quoting that portion of your post. I left off the the second part of your post intentionally as I've not seen enough from Kemp to have an opinion one way or the other to know about his base stealing abilities. On his base running abilities, I stand by saying that a fast guy with relative little MLB experience is likely one of the better base runners for the Astros by default.
Springer is overdue a big game! I have a good feeling about today.... let's go 'Stros! (I've been watching every game from Denver, CO where we've been snowed in all weekend! So I'm living for the 'Stros in my house arrest)
lol... you guys can't tell sarcasm or tongue in cheek comments from a hole in the ground. Stop taking everything so literally. Course I want Correa to succeed...I'm just saying, maybe he needs a bit of a reality check since I'm sure all his handlers are telling him he'll be the next $400M man blah blah blah... no one is giving up on him so chill the f out.
