With the way Lance usually pitches good or bad we'll be using our bullpen by mid 6th, beginning of the 7th. I do like how AJ is willing to use Gattis at catcher to make sure he stays in the line up when we have to DH one of our big guys to give them some rest. I like Castro, but Gattis' bat in the line up is a must right now. Still ready to see the day that Breg is penciled in at third...
True, but who goes where? Looking more like Feliz-Harris-Giles? Could be the big boost Giles needs, and if he can find his inner closer like last year, that's one filthy 7/8/9. Gregerson could be pushed to the back, and be used for 7th innings when Feliz is tired, or a 6th inning situation, although Sipp will still play a big role in 6th innings if need be.
I would go with Giles... The door is completely open for this move. At this point, Gregerson has to move to the 7th inning role (I actually think he will dominate in the 7th inning role which will only make our bullpen better). I think the pressure has gotten to him and a 7th inning role could work wonders. Harris needs to stay in set-up role because of how dominant he's been in this role. Now with Giles... He's performed better in May and this is Hinch's opportunity to make a huge move. It just makes too much sense. Our bullpen is stacked, but it's a matter of how Hinch wants to proceed.
I don't hate either. I never felt Gregerson was a true closer, but was pleased that he actually was doing a solid job for most of last year and some of this year. In order to "Hate" Gomez he would have to do something personal, like bash the team, complain about playing time, etc. He still is one of the first out there on walk offs and one of the most excited. He just flat out isn't performing. I hate it because his energy and passion towards the game, not to mention his tools that were shown in seasons past, makes you wonder what this line up would look like if he were playing at a high level.
Gergerson. You can't be a closer and blow 4 leads before the middle of June. He's had his chance. Now we need to move him back to a non-pressure situation. Gomez is only one batter out of a line-up of 9 guys. Yes he has struggled, but he hasn't blown 4 games on his own. He brings energy, athleticism, etc...
I really like Gomez as a person, love that even when he is struggling so bad and not playing regularly, he still gives full support to everyone else. If there was some way, any way, for him to regain some of the playing ability he had only a year and a half ago, this lineup would be absolutely lethal Luke has blown the lead in 4 games, but we have come back to win 3 of those I think, so he really hasn't "blown the game" He needs to be removed from the closers role immediately, but as of now his play hasn't cost us multiple losses, luckily
I noticed that as well !!!! In the past he would have left him out there but I think Hinch feels he's given him time to get through this funk and he hasn't found a way yet !!!!
Jeez what a weak hit and yet it brings in 2. Lance just can't avoid giving up runs very early in games.
Well Lance gave up two his last start when we destroyed Arizona.... Guess that's the only silver lining I have.
