I know I am late posting, but surely that was gregersons last save opportunity right? Dude has been Mitch Williams'd
Giles did extremely well in PHI... pretty sure he knows how to spot his fastball. It's probably a mental thing due to his new team's increased expectations. Phillies weren't expected to do anything. Hopefully he can handle the pressure better. So, you wouldn't take a hit in that situation BA is a good sign of making contact anyways. But, you already knew both of those facts. You just wanna argue.
I'm sure it is disconcerting. Like I commented earlier, they have survived the blown saves for the most part but this has to take the wind out of the sails of the team after a while.
Agree with you, and some say we can't match players unless we have 67 on the roster. Well, i do agree we don't do it in the 4th, but in the 8th???? Come on, if not then, WHEN????
Yes, I prefer a hit, but getting that run in is priority number 1. Making contact is what I wanted, which Rasmus does equally against righties and lefties. If this is ONLY about Valbuena, fine...but blame Rasmus just as much as you'd blame Hinch. Not only that, replacing Valbuena with Gomez or White, still gives you a solid chance that a strikeout takes place. Valbuena strikes out 34% of the time against lefties...White strikes out 31% of the time against lefties. Are you really going to bank on that, in return for a huge defensive downgrade? Not only that, White is hitting 0.170 against lefties...Valbuena is hitting 0.207 against lefties. YES, lets just sub everyone so the bench can play...FIRE HINCH!
Not this year, he is only hitting .171 vs lefties. Career he hits .217 vs lefties, over .250 vs righties. Sorry, but it was just not a good matchup
You're talking about BA with Rasmus...I was not. His strikeout rate is pretty much equal against righties and lefties. And you dont bench Rasmus in that situation. Unless you want Gomez batting for him.
