The 'Stros had an incredible April and May but since then they have been just below .500. They have sucked longer than they have been great. Thats not the mark of a playoff caliber team
like i said in the other thread, if there's a health issue, that's one (big) thing. but if he's just chilling with his new kid for 3+ days, that's terrible.
Again... They had a 4-5 game lead a few weeks ago. The way baseball works, is it is a cumulative sport. The games you win in April and May count the same as those in August and September. Google it, you will find some information on it.
LOL Valencia has been tough on you guys. At what point does it come tempting to walk him? We can make pitches with Neshek against a RHH. Those strategies can sometimes work. You make your pitches, we can get him out. He's not batting 1.000. There's ways to get him out. You gotta make pitches. It's not how we drew it up and there are a thousand things we could do differently after the fact but walking him wasn't something I considered.
Eh, doesn't really bother me. If it were your kid wouldn't you want to be there for the first couple days of his/her life?
sure. i'd want there to be there for the first couple weeks and months and years of their life too. how long should he get? would you have a problem if he just took off the rest of the year? maybe he should have chosen a different profession. once again (can't emphasize this enough), this is all predicated on there being no health issues. if there are, i think any amount of time is ok.
Professional sports is one of a handful of jobs that require full attention and almost no time lost for births and deaths... They are well compensated for it. They expected him Friday and he wasn't there.
Ughh! I'm getting tired of them keep telling us to go get your Crush City yard signs. I'm about to set mine on fire right now!!
So.... no one wants to be an Astros fan anymore? Great. I need some legroom on the bandwagon. Got a bad knee.
I mean I get that, just feels slimy to complain about a guy who wants to spend the first couple of days with his first newborn kid.
