Quietly, Yordan isn't All-World this season. OPS below .900 and plenty K's He's been victim of some ball umpiring, but not sub-900 worth. Confident he'll return All-World.. and soon
Yeah he was ok last season but I felt it was a fluke. Wasn't a fan when they signed him for another year. Back to reality with him I guess. He had an era of 7.30 heading into tonight's game. Not sure why he was brought in a tie game. Although not sure who else was available. Joe Smith(pick your poison between him and Raley), Emanuel (maybe Baker doesn't trust the rookie in that situation), and who else???
The guy went 8.2 innings in relief for the win in his debut appearence. He deserves a shot. Give me him over ****ing Brooks Raley
Pressly and Stanek are what you've got. Bielak as a long guy is cool, Abreu is getting his shot to be functional, he's got a hell of an arm, he's just young and inconsistent. They miss Paredes. Raley has been a disaster, Taylor is hurt, Scrubb could help if he gets right. I'm afraid Smith is done. Kent E may be taking Raley's job soon, I'd like to see him a bit more. Then you talk about Framber and Baez and maybe James (what's the situation with him, anyway?) and you've deepened your pen by addition. In theory.
I think he also had 4 k's in 2 innings in 2 separate games against the Rays. Also easy to say now but the Yankees aren't familiar with him so maybe he would have gotten the job done.
It may not be fair to Solomon’s development, but the Astros really need another solid option against RHB with Smith being undependable and Baez being out for God knows how long. Using Raley in that spot you know **** was gonna go sideways but I don’t know what better options Dusty had.
Quick search and it said James might be back late May or early June. I forgot about Taylor, what happened to him? And what's the issue with Pruitt. Missed last season and still out.
That sucked. Their bullpen is vastly superior to ours. Jim Crane is not paying the luxury tax, though!
Rookie options are better than Raley and Smith, right? It's not like their stuff is worth waiting on. Abreu, at least, has quality stuff (if lousy control).
Right, that's why I said you deepen your pen by addition. I think Garcia could be a horse in the pen for now, starter later, look what he's done in his first few innings. I'm hopeful, but I'll believe in Odorizzi when I see it. What's up with Paredes? He'd be huge in the pen. ETA: Just learned that he was sent out to rehab in Corpus today. Yay. Someone mentioned Solomon. I liked what I saw. Crazy that the Stros have more options in the rotation right now than they do in the pen.
Click's offseason addressing the bullpen... Baez- 2 years 12.5 million Hasn't thrown one pitch Raley-1 year 2 million Wish he hadn't thrown a pitch Pruitt- 1 year 667k Hasn't thrown a pitch for the Astros including last season Stanek- 1 year 1.1 million with multiple years of control Nice signing Also...A's up in the 8th. Their lead over the Astros will grow to 4 games if they hold on.
The Baez overpay is what it is, although I think Baez will be good enough when/if he pitches. I don’t understand signing Castro though as a glorified backup. Might as well have picked a backup C off the scrap heap and signed another reliever with upside.
