Once they’re using technology to get calls right, I feel they have to keep moving forward. The umps know they’re not getting every call right and it’s only getting worse with more velocity/spin. My hope is they use technology for balls/strikes but as a backup for when the ump misses it (but it happens in real time, not as a challenge).
Ump makes primary call. If he doesn’t get it right it immediately gets overturned. similar to how tennis still has line judges but a laser eye monitors serves as a backup. obviously a lot of details in between but I still think most umps can get the vast majority of calls right... they just need some help on the close ones. (Or the brain fart ones).
Injuries really making the bullpen a concerning weakness right now. Raley has no business out there in this type of spot either.
