Framber did what he's been penchant to do. Look like a cy young pitcher for 3 innings, then look below average. Its actually what most younger pitchers go through... remember it on the regular with Wandy.
I agree. Reddick is notoriously bad in the playoffs. I mean really bad. His clutch has been negative and his entire career totals -9. Situational hitting is not his forte. He's no mister big shot. Chirinos is hitting a spectacular .238 in what amounts to his career 1/2 season and ranks in the lowest 10% of players in the league when it comes to putting a ball in play and the likelihood of a hit. He's a -1 in clutch this year and a minus for his career. He's a catcher. It's expected. But he's no threat. That's the story of his entire career. Fangraphs tells the whole story. I agree though, the lineup is good enough to win a title which is why I see no reason to make a trade.
Who goes? When everyone is healthy this would be the roster most likely... LF Brantley CF Springer RF Reddick 3B Bregman SS Correa 2B Altuve 1B Gurriel C Chirinos DH Alvarez Bench: Stassi Marisnick Diaz So do the Astros keep Kemp or his replacement "upgrade" and go with a 7 man bullpen? Considering how abused the bullpen has been the 1st half of the season I don't see that as being very likely. Even with Kemp and White being DFA'd or traded I don't see room for another bat unless they include Yuli in a trade as salary offset for a Greinke type pitcher.
^Solid lineup, Redfish, but still not as strong as the Yankees. Gurriel and his low OBP and low slugging at 1B (a premium offensive position) is a hole, and potentially Reddick, who, despite the bounce-back year, has typically not been a good playoff hitter throughout his career, as some others have pointed out. Let them play it out the second half and then Hinch needs to just go with the guys who have the best numbers.
We don’t need a better lineup than the Yankees over the course of 162 games. We need a lineup that can compete or even outplay them for a couple weeks. We absolutely have that already. I’d like to see another starter and probably a guy in the pen(pending what Smith and McHugh give us). Our lineup is championship quality. Possibly even legendary if everyone gets back healthy and productive.
True, McHugh and Smith come back... we need help in the middle. Especially if Framber is a 3-4 inning pitcher
Oh, just realized, Brantley gets a start in RF in an AL game. I know, short porch, but it looks like Hinch is feeling fine with Brantley in right. That would be awesome, flexibility is always nice.
Bregman really needs to start driving the ball again. Launch angle can only work in your favor if you’re tagging balls.
Stros AB ended before I sat down. Maybe Paxton threw 10 pitches. At least we recorded an out before runners reached. We struggled with that yesterday.
