Ha. I'll agree that I don't fully understand the shift when the pitches don't line up with the shift. However, I'm sure they've done some homework that suggests the specific player tends to hit into the shift even when the pitch is on the wrong side (at least often enough to make the shift worth it).

I mean, you can't throw all inside pitches when you shift to the pull side..gotta vary it some to prevent telegraphing your pitches based on the infield. Teams would learn that trick really fast.

No-doubles D is a different animal, but I wouldn't allow more singles and less doubles when you're up by 5. You want to maximize your chances of getting outs, not preventing the runner from getting 2 bases instead of 1.

    You forgot:

McCullers always does bad on the road.

Springer's hamstring injury will keep him out till June.

Hinch doesn't know what he's doing with the batting lineups.

Jeeezus, man, go sacrifice a chicken (bucket or rotisserie) and pound some rum. Post haste.

Two of those statements were never stated on this board, but hey, truth has never stopped the Buddies. LOL

Hopefully Springer homers again before June... April 18th was his last.

Regardless, the main thing is the Stros are rollin !!!!

Those exact words likely were never used. However, complaints on Road McCullers and Hinch's lineups have been prevalent. On Springer, that may have been an exaggeration, but I could have missed it.

My statement is still 100% true, and deserved being said. Fact is, certain posters will push their agenda against other posters regardless of their own accuracy.

I enjoy watching everything play out. ClutchFans is entertaining the same way real life is.

Other than Correa batting cleanup (which is still up for debate) I don't remember any batting lineup discrepancies but I could have missed it as well.

I see that you are one of those posters. Your statement is only 100% true if his intent was to quote exactly and not to paraphrase which I doubt was his intent.

Nope. Signed up when this was just a Rockets board. Typically only go to that sub forum now for news. I have thought of changing my avatar as his time with Astros is legend with me. I was hoping Musgrove would pitch well enough, but seeing him is not the image I want when I post right now.

Trust, I know the intent. Since certain guys have history of being difficult with me, they need to be refreshed on what's actually said.

Perhaps Musgrove's image will ignite his surge!! Lance saw his thread, maybe Joe needs his avatar ;)

A couple of Saturday morning thoughts:

The Astros are on pace to win 112 games this year. I know we haven't played any good teams yet :D but that's straight up taking care of business. To put it in perspective the two best records in the modern day 162 game era are the 2001 Mariners (116 wins) and the 1998 Yankees (114 wins). The Yanks won the WS that year and the Mariners lost in the ALCS.

Anybody ever notice how many teams have former catchers as managers? Just glancing at the current list of managers, I think at least 11 of them were formerly catchers in the bigs without going through their bios. I suppose they are "on the field generals" similar to quarterbacks and strategically call the pitching game and have a first hand view of the alignments of the outfield for specific hitters. Pretty good preparation for managerial decisions later in life I suppose.

buy a freaking roof. you have enough money for a gazillion dollars payroll so you can afford a roof.
in fact, if i was commish trying to make baseball the greatest again, not building a roof would have consequences. in a case of a rain out the visiting team is awarded an automatic win. Now there will be an astros game during mother's day lunch. how are we supposed to fokkas?
It's just 100 million dollars for a retractable roof. sofa change for any balla'. Come on, Hal.

It would be great to split tomorrow. Initially, I was thinking we could take the second game. But then, I looked at Morton's splits. His Home/Road splits (2.43/7.20) are worse than McCullers, especially after yesterday. In fact, Fiers (6.38) has been better on the road than Morton. And, Severino has gotten beat up at home a bit (4.35)(5HR in 20 IP).

Maybe Fiers (God forbid) is our better chance?

so which team(s) out there you'd like to see the Astros win/battle hard against to be considered good? The Stros have taken down solid pitchers this year as well as closers...heck they got to Chapman last night with his fat azz major league high salary contract
