I don’t ever care about results of any one individual decision. You can hit on 19 in blackjack while the dealer shows a 6, pull a 2 and get 21, but that doesn’t make it a good decision. Managerial decisions in a game of failure are similar, sometimes it goes your way and sometimes it doesn’t, but all I want from a manager is consistently making the decision most likely to go our way, which Espada is horrifically bad at. While Yordan is on the shelf I’d sure like to see Chas, Dezenzo, cam and Jake all play, which isn’t hard at all. Nope, got to mix Dubon in. And he’s, I know (and don’t care) he had a 2 rbi single. Maybe cam would have k’d. Maybe he would have hit a grand slam. But he would have been a better bat in that situation and every other.
I have not seen anything before Sunday that leads me to believe ZD is a horrifically bad OF. He’s probably just fine. Sometimes **** happens. If it becomes a habit then by all means yank him, but a data point of 1 doesn’t tell you anything.
I think there’s a very important difference between “bad” and “inexperienced”. Dezenzo is a pretty inexperienced, and that’s exacerbated by the fact that what little playing time he’s gotten has been sporadic. It’s way too early to write the book on Dezenzo’s defense, although I think it’s fair to say he’s got the speed and the arm to potentially be very very good in the corner OF.
Agreed but I think it's too early to pull the plug on him in the outfield. He is new to the position so I think he's earned a little bit of slack. I appreciate your passion on this topic but you should give him another shot
Chris Truby? I seem to remember he went on a 7 hr in 7 game run once ... (I think) ... or he posted some ridiculous numbers in a short span and then never again
I do not have any proof to back this up, but I swear we always play better against teams with a good record and get beaten by the also rans
Any game that ends because of rain should be a loss for the home team, no matter the score. Penalize franchises without roofs. It's 2025.
