Dusty has always believed in making sure all pitchers are familiar with all catchers. I'm pretty sure most managers are like that as well. For example, last year, he made sure Vazquez and Verlander got a game together.
That's all well and good, but Diaz still hasn't caught Framber, Javier or Garcia before he got hurt. Maldonado has already caught Brown, multiple times.
By that logic, why hasn’t Diaz caught Framber or Javier yet? Maldy is older and more injury prone. I know Maldy threw a fit when the team was looking to add a catcher in the off-season. And Vasque probably felt uncomfortable with Maldy staunchly defending his starting spot. Is his ego that fragile?

I'm honestly kind of expecting him to announce his retirement. Based on my experience, t's a LOT easier to swing a bat with a jacked up shoulder than it is to throw a baseball, and if he can't even swing a bat without massive inflammation that gets him shut down nearly a year after surgery it means his shoulder is probably toast.
