All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 5-12 J.P. France (R) vs. Michael Kopech (R) 7:10 5-13 Brandon Bielak (R) vs. Dylan Cease (R) 6:15 FOX only 5-14 Hunter Brown (R) vs. Lucas Giolito (R) 1:10
Why? Who is better than 4.2 IP and 2 runs? At his point in time, Bielak is part of the 5 pitcher rotation, like it or not. 1. Framber 2. Javier 3. Brown 4. France 5. Bielak
They are not skipping anyone unless it's to get to Framber ( maybe not then either). Hopefully they learned from 2021 and 2022 A fresher healthier staff in October/November is better than allowing 2 or 3 fewer runs in a game in May. Only so many bullets and its a long season.
France's debut looked good on the stat line, but man he really did get through it by the skin of his nutsack on a lot of those AB's. He's on the roster by necessity at this point but he is not ready yet, control and excessive walks is a problem for him. He is prone to get lit up. Damn these injuries SUCK.
France probably isn't a long-term starter anyways. He's a good fit for the Brad Peacock "starter first, then reliever" path.
It is a long season. The Astros have had every Thursday off since Opening Day. You act like the Astros starters aren't one of the most rested rotations in the game at the moment and skipping Bielak to keep Framber from getting rusty would change that. I'd be fine bring in another AAA pitcher to start before Javier so the rest of the rotation stays incredibly rested.
We're just spoiled as Astros fans with pitching. The league average ERA for pitchers is usually somewhere in the low to mid 4's. As Astros fans we look at an ERA like that in horror. Bielak isn't terrible, he's just kind of league average. 2021 ERA: 4.50 2022 ERA: 3.65 2023 ERA: 4.15
If he hits a HR or two and has some great offensive games this series, then we could trade him back to the White Sox for player(s) and they have to stock our soda machine(s) as we don't want our players paying for sodas. This may tell us that Abreu can only hit at home and we're not home. Of course, we're probably getting our hopes up for nothing. Damn it! HIT THE BALL SO WE CAN STOP THIS MADNESS!
The white Sox are one of the worst team in the league, if the astros can't win this series idk wth is wrong with the astros.
I'm not acting like anything. I'm just trying to figure out why they didn't skip Bielak and give you my opinion. Yeah, Framber is going to get rusty by having 5 days off instead of 4. I have an idea. Why don't we make sure that Framber starts every 5 days regardless, because he's the best starter on the team. That's 27 more starts. He averages 6 2/3 IP per start so that's 180 more innings. He goes into the playoffs with 35vstarts and 233 innings and is totally gassed and ends up pitching like hevdid in the 21 WS - 4 2/3 IP in 2 starts giving up 10 runs.
Wouldn't be surprised if they lost the series. The Astros have played down to their opponents, they're running out Bielak and JP France this series, and the white sox are a dangerous (although massively underperforming) team. The Stros have already lost a series to them (opening series). Any given game Kopech, Cease and Giolito can shove.
We are doomed, you should know how we play against sub .500 teams (guessing our record may be one of the worst in the league against sub .500) and yes the Whitesux are horrible this year. I was hoping they’d get to face Lance Lynn as he’s been getting lit up all year and for some reason take extra pleasure in beating his ass.
I'm calling 2 out of 3 wins. We win today 6-4 Lose tomorrow 7-6 Win Sunday 2-1 in a gem by Hunter and 1st Astro HR by Abreu.
