Another filthy performance from McCullers. Two starts in a row, really hard to not start getting really excited. Unfortunately, Sale was filthier. He can lay legit claim to having the best stuff on the planet, when he is on, he is simply untouchable.
White Sox had the benefit of timely hitting. Not often will a team get 3 runs off of four hits with no walks. That game was all about Sale though. I was hoping that we would chase him a little earlier to get to the bullpen, where the Stros have had a lot of success. Sale tossed 119 pitches. I could see that if he was chasing a no hitter or complete game shut-out, but not sure why the manager is taxing his arm mid-season. Oh well. Hopefully end this losing streak tonight.
Specially with his build, I would be worried about long term durability. Really kind of pointless to trot him out there for almost 120 pitches. They're a last place team and not going to make much noise this year...but Sale will be there for a long time. Need to take care of him now so he can pitch when it matters.
Sooooo happy to go through the lineup and no Villar nor Marwin!!!!! I was looking for one of them, lol, and look at the lineup a second time, could not believe it!!!!!
Man, ESPN and the MLB channel....can you show one Astros game this season? Just one? Piss ants! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting...but no cigar.
You realize Valbuena can't play against LHP? Same, but lesser, with Tucker and Rasmus? You know there was no Correa, and Lowrie is hurt, right? You do know this, right? Right?
When Jed comes back the lineup is going to be so much better. No Valbuena, Marwin, Villar as regulars.
I hope Valbuena is a regular against RHP. His .750 OPS is likely higher than what Lowrie would produce against RHP...and Valbuena's BABIP is still super low relative to his career #'s.
