Ausmus is a crap hitter, always has been, always will be, he had a few months where he hit ok for average, but overall, he is a AA hitter at best.

His value is in calling a game...but apparently he can't handle a bullpen any longer...because they all have the same stuff as last year, but none of them is doing very well.....and the catcher has to take some of that blame...he calls the pitches.

The thing about closers is its all about confidence not necessarily being overpowering. Once a closer loses his confidence he becomes ineffective. Guys like Jenks, Wagner, Gagne, Hoffman, Rivera, and even Todd Jones are great examples. The step on the mound and they have no fear of any hitter, they never seem to question their ability or second guess their decisions. Lidge on the other hand, seems very uncomfortable taking the mound since the playoffs last year. His confidence is shot.

I hate how the commentator gets so excited when the Sox do something. Our home runs were just drives.

Their home runs need to be YELLED OUT LOUD FOR ALL TO HEAR.

God, we have the WORST bullpen record after 1 starter. Every game Roy pitches the bullpen after him has an era of over 8.00!

Man this could have easily been a sweep in our favor if the Sox don't hit those grand slams. What could have been :(

Funny you guys are complaining about Biggio and Everett and Ausmus against their closer who has some serious nasty stuff...in a 9-9 game no less. Offense hasn't been a problem all series.

pudge rodriguez is one of the best catchers of all time, and year in and year out he looked to the bench to get the calls for the particular batter.... ausmus had some good defensive abilities but even those are gone.

    bring buck back!

the guy on ESPN radio just called it too, "ausmus looks tired"

Sure, why complain about Ausmus, with a runner on 3rd and only 1 out, why would we expect him to be a professional and hit a fly ball to get the runner home?

Should have never come to that. But alas it did and the game must still be won. So you want him to do something, besides strikeout or hit into a dp...but that's easier said than done against a filthy nasty closer like Jenks. It's like going against Lidge in '04. You're not gonna get much done there.

What you think we should cut everett and ausmus a break b/c they were facing Jenks? Hell I can't think of any pitcher that takes the mound against the astros that I dont' count ausmus and everett as automatic outs. Those 2 guys are horrible offensive players and hurts this team so many times.

A fricken suicide squeeze would have given a better chance, even if you announced you were going to do it.
