I love that Redick had a couple of base hit RBIs in this game. His confidence was so shot last postseason; I think it was important for him to get off on the right foot.
Hard to believe it's the same HOF relief pitcher who won a WS with Oakland in the late 80's. Same pitcher who also gave up the home run to Kirk Gibson in the '88 WS.
I am pretty sure he doesn’t know how to use the Internet or a computer. He shoulda like he didn’t do any research.
Why use Osuna here. Not needed. Atleast wait and see if the Lance (or someone else) gets in trouble and it becomes save situation.
He played for Cleveland, Boston, Oakland and St. Louis, and now is a broadcaster for Boston. **** that guy.
Its playoff, who care about save, every game is important, especially the first one, you win it, you set the tone.
Not really wasting him. He can pitch tomorrow, and we have an off day before game 3. Relievers can pitch in every game of a 5 game series pretty easily. Get that first postseason appearance out of the way with the new club. If we don't need him tomorrow, it's great to get him some work after an extended layoff.
I think he needs the work, keep him sharp. Been off a while. Can still use him tomorrow and then have time off.
Playoff baseball means everyone is available everyday, there is no situation about saving the guys for tomorrow. Its all about win it or lose it. You always use your best pitcher in that situation, unless you know the game is a loss then you will give up, Its the same reason why the Indians were behind and they still use one of their best pitchers in relief situation.
