Doobie, his bat on the ball speed has gone down. Chaz has more hits on his batting helmet than base hits and Garbage is straight from the Angels trash bin.
My confidence in dude is down to a 5. He's been just an average guy in Houston, but gets paid like a 9. Can't have Yordan and Tucker DNPing *plus* Hader sh*ting the bed. . .
Hopefully Miller and Murphy can work with him to see what he's doing wrong. A crazy amount of HRs given up so far and we're barely half way through the season. I looked up his career high in HRs given up in one season and it was 15 in 2019.
Well. 1 and 2 was about what I expected, even if I hoped for better. 50-46 is still in play if go 4-2 vs Marlins and Rangers. 2 games back of Seattle who go to SD and Angels for 3 each. Then open 2nd half w/ 3 game series in Seattle to determine the AL West lead. As for healthy - the HBP keep adding up but it looks like both Altuve and Yordan won't need the IL. Let's hope Tucker and Bloss return for the Seattle Series.
HR surrendered in 4 of his last 6 appearances. He has struggled pitching b2b games and 3x in 4 days (like today). I barely trust him 2x in 3 days. Espada needs to limit his appearances (i.e. avoid using him with a 4-run lead). Joe needs to eat more innings by throwing bullpen guys 2 innings. Abreu and Pressly are capable of closing.
He’s also had quite a few that were almost home runs. Hopefully the pitching coaches can fix whatever is wrong
so far, he seems fixated on not walking guys (especially if they have a 2+ run lead).... and gets to the point of just throwing a fastball down the middle to presumed non HR threats. Except for the one Correa hit out on Friday... (that wasn't even a strike).
Considering the wildcard race, this one hurt pretty bad, we would be only 3 behind the Twins instead of 5 games.
He’s too busy trying to extricate himself from the 6th inning (where the BBS declared he must go just one month ago). To be fair, he was’t much better today. Should have given up a run in the 8th. Most of his pitches weren’t in the zone and the Twins opted not to play for one run.
