All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 7-28 Dallas Keuchel LHP vs. Jordan Zimmermann RHP 6:10 7-29 Collin McHugh RHP vs. Matthew Boyd LHP 5:10 7-30 Lance McCullers Jr. RHP vs. Justin Verlander RHP 12:10
Verlander switches locker rooms today, pitches on his regular rest against the Tigers on Sunday. Lance gets an extra day rest.
A few years ago, going into a series facing Zimmerman and Verlander would have been very imposing. These days not so much. Verlander has fallen off, and Zimmerman has fallen apart. Zimmerman is probably a textbook example of why the Astros would be so nervous about giving Keuchel huge money. Will be nice to finally see our expected top 3 all go in a series.
This is a huge ris waiting til this series to make any moves. If Keuchel comes out and sucks then everyone will up their asking price for a SP...
Because 1 start overshadows his spectacular season? I don't think other teams would up their asking price based on 1 start...nor will the Astros make huge decisions based on his first performance off the DL. (Unless he gets hurt again--that's the only risk, IMO.)
IDK...we have the best record in the AL with Keuchel only making 11 starts. He was really good in 10 of those 11 starts. I doubt the FO is going to put a lot of stock into 1 start coming off the DL. I think it'd be a bigger risk making a knee jerk reaction and overpaying just because Keuchel might get hurt again. I think he probably could've returned much sooner than he actually did if we didn't have such a huge lead in the division. That bought us enough time to let him come back a lot later than he probably could have.
We have any information on our day-to-day guys? I hope the return of Keuchel and the 9-0 loss will give the team an emotional boost to win, but it's clear how the injuries seeping into our batting lineup has finally started to hurt. Keuchel's probably been going out of his mind wanting to get back. Hopefully, his control is as stellar as ever tonight, but the rest of the team needs to do their part to give their ace a hearty welcome-back win. Actually, all three of our pitchers for this series could use some run support, so they can actually notch a win on their belts. Especially Lance.
The Dodgers can't lose a game. And apparently, the only play @LA too. They're about have 15 more home games played than road. Really hoping their winning ways slow down.
Keuchel, McHugh and McCullers all scheduled to start back to back to back.... never thought I'd live to see the day again. Here is hoping they do well.
Nice to see Hinch trying to replicate the Springer AB's. Fisher has great plate discipline. He's honestly a better player than Jake in my opinion.
