I guess as long teams can threaten to move to Dallas or Fort Worth (or Frisco) they'll always be on the hook every 20-30 years?
This d bag Dozier trying to screw everything up. Get the F out of KC. I was thrilled to see them play the last few days for my own selfish reasons, but I said before that it was probably an unnecessary risk.
I’m not sure there’s much here... most contending teams have questions after their 1-3, and most teams don’t have a 1-3 as formidable as these guys. And in a short season, while acute injuries would be detrimental, you may not see the same fatigue/arm issues over a short season as you would a long one. Nobody really mentioning Josh James who will either hold his own as a starter or continue to excel as as reliever.
Astros are more top heavy than most of the top teams in pitching. Though, short season should mitigate the need to go 10 deep in starters unless there is a mass infection for a team. I do think James has a good chance to shock MLB this year. If the Astros stay healthy and get good years from Verlander, Greinke, LMJ, and James....they are just going to mow down the AL and NL Wests even if Urquidy can't make it back.
Agreed. It is funny to read that most predictions are hedging away from supporting the Astros, but highly suspect this is purely to avoid getting scrutinized vs really basing it on sound analysis. Plenty of people picking the A’s, even though they have even more questions regarding players coming off injury seasons. And if there was ever a season where you don’t need tons of arms available to you, its this one.
Wait , urquidy is hurt !? on DL for undisclosed injury ? My gut says bad news , hopefully its just an anal fissure and they are trying not to make a big stink about it
Ah , you know ... i kinda forgot about that for a second when I put on my GM cap . Yeah , hopefully that's it and hopefully they are mild cases with 0 lingering damage .
Jose Altuve (left leg contusion) is participating fully in pre-intrasquad infield drills Martin Maldonado, who caught the first half of Monday's game in Kansas City, is at Minute Maid Park participating in the Astros' workout.
Every time I see J.R. post a reply, my first thought is please be an update saying Urquidy is with team, and will be ready for the Dodgers.
Astros manager Dusty Baker said the team's trainers went back & looked at which players came in close contact with Hunter Dozier, who tested positive for COVID-19. Dozier played against Astros on Monday. "We feel very confident nobody came in close contact to him," Baker said. Jose Altuve said he knee feels fine. As far as getting his AL championship ring today, Altuve said: "It's a little mixed emotions but I'm thankful and happy for that." Dusty Baker said it's likely Framber Valdez will be the fifth starter, as expected. He'll throw a live BP tomorrow.
Doesn't our catcher come in close contact with every opposing hitter? For this reason, the catcher maybe the most probable guy to get it from the opposing team? Have not seen too many catchers with masks. A problem in the making?
Makes me wonder if umpires are going to get onto players who spit at the plate or when they are on base (or defending a base)?
I'm ready to see what happens for this season. I'm still down about 2019 and it still stings. I don't know what to expect with a 60 game season but it's going to be interesting. I'm curious to see if MLB can finish the season with the virus going on. There are holes with this team and we haven't seen what the new GM will do. With the whole outfield being FA's after this season, it makes me wonder how aggressive the front office will be at the deadline. Do they push all their chips on the table or ride with what they have? Either way, let's go Stros.
Stolen line: "The way Astros’ luck and PR has been going, the first homer will probably nail that cutout of the toddler."
*Cardboard cutout sues Astros* Spoiler They have a **** ton of lawsuits out there... https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...opposing-stances-legal-arguments-15426376.php As the season begins, the Astros face the following ongoing legal actions: • Paramedic struck by foul ball • Ticketholders allege fraud • T-shirt cannon furor • DraftKings fantasy players sue • FanDuel user sues • Arrested fans sue • Pitcher alleges fraud • Another ticketholder lawsuit • Owner sues ex-owner • CSN Houston case drags on • Another CSN Houston case drags on
Does ATT cable have the Astros in their lineup in Houston? I feel like the answer is no. Can anyone confirm this?
