    The regulars will play six or seven innings, Dusty Baker said. Lance McCullers Jr. will throw five innings/75 pitches. Baker and Royals manager Mike Matheny may allow an inning to extend or shorten if McCullers is nearing his pitch count.

    The Astros against the Royals and Mike Montgomery:
    Springer 8
    Altuve 4
    Bregman 5
    Brantley 7
    Gurriel 3
    Correa 6
    Reddick 9
    Diaz DH
    Maldonado 2
    McCullers Jr. RHP

    Ryan Pressly did make the trip to Kansas City, according to an Astros spokesman. His omission on the travel roster was an error.

    The Astros are still a lot better than the rest of the league... will be even more dangerous with Alvarez.

    Lance will hopefully pick up some Greinke pointers... location and sometimes forcing weak contact ends up saving the arm more than trying to strike everybody out. His stuff still electric though.

    Good start through 3 for Lance. High pitch count (48) but with 4 Ks that's not terrible. Glad baseball is back! Almost...

    His PC is 46 through 3. If he can stay around there, I dont mind his inefficiency.

    Lance McCullers Jr. threw 76 pitches in five innings of one-run ball tonight against the Royals. 47 of his 76 pitches were strikes. He induced 14 swings and misses and did not walk a batter. Cy Sneed takes over.

    6 strikeouts
    1 home runs
    76 pitches (46 strikes).
