I never called him a future star. I said he has potential to be; I’d say there’s probably a 20% chance he has at least one 3+ fwar season. I also am not “afraid to trade him” evidenced by the hypothetical trades I proposed that included Melton.

He’s been working out with the outfielders every day. Frankly, I’ve found it odd that when he plays in games he’s at 3rd - given the amount of time he’s spending with the outfielders in camp.

Grossmang has made a pretty damn good career for himself, I never would have guessed it years ago.

He gets to 10 years of service time in July...I hope he makes it with somebody.

I remember him later around MLB...Phillies maybe?

    I always wondered your age.
Seem like an old and funny sole.

I was 8 when he broke with the team.
Back when you could go to Astroworld during the day and a Stros game that same night. All for about 20 bucks if you snuck a bologna sandwich in your pocket

I absolutely agree with that last sentence. My belief is not that Cam is sent to the minors, if he keeps hitting, it's that he's at 3rd. Paredes has years of experience playing 2B and 1B and he can shift over easily if needed to accommodate. I also don't believe everything Brown says at face value.

Cam skipping AAA and making the majors in a fast track is a lot to put on the kid - doing so at a position he's more comfortable at may be an easier transition.

I agree not to take basically anything that Brown says at face value. Brown has decided to cultivate this image of the "nice guy" that will talk to the media, be positive and give sound bites that seem like they are saying a lot, when they really are not. Brown is smart - if you notice, what he says almost always ends up being to his benefit.

As for Paredes, yes he is capable of playing 2nd and 1st - as well as 3rd. They believe with more time he could play a corner outfield spot but he is more comfortable on the infield and the Astros know he is someone that really struggles if he isn't comfortable - part of the reason the Cubs situation didn't turn out well.

The only way I see Cam in RF is if he has more struggles at 3rd than the Astros have let on OR the Astros think that they will end up with Arenado at 3rd.

I know a lot of fans don't want Arenado - but the Astros and Cardinals are both very motivated to make a deal. The Cardinals are trying to expand the deal to get some real prospects out of the deal, the Astros are listening but are more inclined to give up less and have the Cards pay down part of the Arenado deal.

What do you think the odds are of Houston trading for Arenado this month?

    Am I missing something?

Yeah, Melton has a serious flag when it comes to the bat.

He has shown he can hit righties but he is completely lost against lefties.

There are a lot of guys that have this profile - some become stars (most of them don't), some of them become awesome strong side platoon guys, some that morph into Jake Marisnick..... and then a lot of them that now work at Home Depot and listen to Glory Days by Bruce Springstein in their garage on the weekends while their wife's at church.
