What ever happened to that guy? Didn't he fizzle out and now work at Wendy's or am I thinking of someone else?
Cam "Looks" way more solid that Carlos ever was . . . swing looks similar, but his lower half looks way more balanced and muscular.
AAA opening day lineup: 2B Matthews SS Whitcomb 3B Smith LF Dezenzo RF Melton 1B Castro (watch) CF Corona DH Hamilton C Palma Bench: Sacco, Bastidas, Salazar, Hudson That is a ****ing STACKED AAA roster.
We’ll see. I don’t think he makes it as a 12th/13th player, and it is looking more like Altuve is going to be a full time OF. If they were playing Dezenzo in RF then I think he’d have a better chance. For now my opening day position player roster prediction is: LF Altuve DH Alvarez 1B Walker 3B Paredes C Diaz RF McCormick 2B Guillorme SS Pena CF Meyers Bench: Dubon, Gamel, Caratini, Singleton
But he's also not 6'3" of solid muscle like Correa. Correa was the number 1 pick and got offered a 300 million dollar contract for a reason. Just being compared to Correa is a compliment. Edit: Crap. Cam is 6'3" also. He doesn't look as big as Correa
Fans when the top prospect has a great game Good to see, but any result this early in camp doesn't mean much of anything IMO. Still, if he works out combined with 3 years of Paredes and whatever we get from Wesneski this really could be an absolutely goated trade.
wow. I was thinking Altuve would still get vast majority his appearances this season at 2B. I chalked up all of his time being monopolized in the OF this spring as just the byproduct of being the 2nd baseman for 15 years, and not needing ST reps there. I’m not sure I love the idea of Altuve full time in the OF. I guess the thought process is that our organization can get better replace production out of the Altuve reps at 2B than it is to replace that production from Tucker in the OF, esp with the Breggy loss. Quite an indictment for our OF depth if true.
As worrisome as Altuve in LF might be on the surface, as time has passed I’ve come around to it. His foot speed is still pretty good, so range won’t be an issue. But more importantly, I’ve gotten pretty excited about a potential Guillorme/Dubon platoon at 2B. It could be the best defensive 2B unit in the league, and the offense wouldn’t be bad (a low k rate paired with just enough power for pitchers to have to respect). The quotes from all the coaches and front office personnel has painted it pretty clearly as a permanent, full time move.
I know it won’t happen, but I would be interested in seeing what Paredes looks like in the leadoff spot. I’ve heard talk about how Yordan might not slot into No2 spot bc Altuve so frequently swings at the first pitch. Perhaps Paredes would make it work better. Also, Altuve certainly can be a middle of the order bat.
The problem with Paredes hitting leadoff is the same problem with his defense: he has well below average foot speed and lateral quickness. So he is not a great fit for leadoff because he is not going to beat out double plays or infield hits. He is a guy who makes his money getting hits for extra bases and taking walks, which is a better fit for the 2-6 holes. If Paredes was 15% faster/quicker, he’d be a money leadoff hitter and easily capable of playing both 2B and RF.
Yea, him and Chaz looked lost which is not a good sign..................but I tell myself it's just spring training, but fudge, if Jake and Chaz have a down year we will be in trouble. I am a Husker fan and loved Jake coming out of college but dam he sucks at times...................White Boy Chaz has lost his luster..............I am trying not to get down after just one game that we won, but dam, this could be our downfall this year. I could see a trade deadline deal if these 2 don't cut it
