I don't know. Wandy has looked like Wandy from 4 years ago this spring. I'm still saying last season was a fluke.
true that. Wandy has steadily improved year to year. Each year Wandy would have one half of the season stronger than the other, and last year was his first season to put together both halves relatively strong. I remember another Astros left-hander whose early ML career followed a very similar pattern: from wildly inconsistent to finally putting together an entire solid year, to eventually winning 22 games. I'm not making any predictions, but that'd be fun, wouldn't it?
Oh...the old Wandy. Use to drive me crazy watching him show great signs at home, then go on the road and give up like 6 runs each game. I think he'll be fine, more than likely he was working on a few things. He's also dealing with his wife due to have their second child, so I'm sure that's been on his mind as well. I was only supposed to pitch two innings the other day, not sure why it was pressed further than that. Any news on if she has had the baby or not?
Hopefully it's just spring training random noise (and maybe the baby stuff), but Wandy came out and said he was concerned and that he didn't necessarily feel ready for the start of the season - so, if nothing else, it wasn't just a matter of him experimenting or whatnot.
For what it's worth, Wandy is very much a speak in general cliches (well, through translation) and focus on obvious, big picture items kind of guy with the media. He's not an Oswalt or Berkman type that gives in-depth critiques of exactly what he's working on and where he is in the process. Whenever I covered a Wandy start and Ausmus was here, I'd always rely on Brad for analysis because he was much more forthcoming with what was going on. That's not to say that I'm not concerned, but I wouldn't read too, too much into Wandy's statements.
wow, daigle with 4 more no-hit innings, and johnson another longball. huge springs for the both of em. i'd think daigle has earned first pitching call-up of the season.
Daigle should have made the roster. I really wish we hadn't picked up the option on Brian Moehler. Daigle could easily take his spot as long reliever/spot starter.
agreed. i think there's a very good chance moehler gets bought out at some point this season if the season goes south, and/or he continues to be his usual sucky self. seems like the astros may be on the verge of trickling in logical decisions.
That may be one of the main reasons he didn't make the team. Why let him sit back in a long relief/mop up role if he had this good of a spring. Why not let him throw in AAA, and allow him to have regular starts in case he is needed to start a game here and there, or in case Paulino doesn't work out.
This guy is the worst outfielder in all of baseball!!! CUT HIS ASS!!!! http://espndb.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=28687
Nothing to do with a hole. If 15 at-bats proves the entire season for one player, it proves it for everyone.
You do know that they sent him down because of his inability to call games, right? It had little to do with offense since Cash is a far worse hitter.
The thought that a decision from Ed Wade and the management of the Houston Astros makes you "right" is irony at its finest.
haha. right. nothing to do with offense. you'd think that since we have scored 6 runs in 7 games, they'd keep towles around since he's such a great hitter. regardless of what you think, he is inept offensively and defensively - like i said and knew. and there is no such thing as a far worse hitter than j.r. towles..
no, i was always right. you thought that their decision to make him our starting catcher this season made you right. now you are left without any defense. neato that you still can't swallow your pride and admit how wrong you were though and how right i was. no worries though, mate.
