He is aggressive, no doubt. How many of those are on the runner, how many are on him? How many times is there a pre-pitch move saying "if the ball is in LCF you go 2nd to home regardless"? How many times to guys run through signs? I dunno, you dunno. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm not saying he's perfect, but the runner has a whole lot of say in things and we do not know what actually happens/happened. I'm also saying that you can't just turn on your aggressiveness on the bases, you either do it and make it a part of your game, or you don't. The Astros do. Take the good with the bad, so to say. "If you're not getting thrown out you're not running enough." I do hate stupid baserunning mistakes though, and I'll absolutely rail on that, but there's a difference between aggro and dumb.
I know. He's a great story, and I'm so, so glad he gets to have this pennant chase in Houston, I can't imagine how that feels for him and his family. Now we just need to sign Jason Lane as our extra LHP in the pen and surprise pinch hitter.
I agree Buck but it is Pettis's job to know the arms in the field and and the situation as in outs, what arms to test and which ones you don't. Reminds me of the Sienfeld episode about taking a reservation. Anyone can take a reservation but can you hold the reservation, the holding is really the most important part. Pettis acts like he has no clue he's just windmilling out there.

I don't know, he has gone 8 a few times... Really solid pitch count. His best pitch is his change up so he may go 2 more with a quick next inning.
yes, but the heat looks bad, and he really looks exhausted out there. I think 1 is good enough and have our bullpen ready.
I'd call it a day there. Welcome (back) to Houston! Correct me if I'm wrong, but is his first home start against the Angels? I can't imagine how amped he'll be for that.
