And, why exactly would you want to trade a 25 year old "beast" at, arguably, the toughest position to fill?

because you still need prospects..Castro will be 30 by the time this team is any good..don't be so myopic

Cool. Considering that a grand total of zero of the Astros' catching prospects are ready.

I don't want Jason Jaramillo or Cody Clark anywhere near this team.

So just let Castro be a great catcher on a ****ty team? Then get nothing for him when he wants to go else where? cool

I'm glad that Jeff Luhnow is the general manager of this team and you're not.

So, you think it will be at least 2018 before they are competing for the playoffs? I guess it will be if they use your advice and trade good young players for even younger unproven prospects.

You are the one who mentioned "any good" in 2018 as a qualifier. What do you consider "any good"?

So, what is wrong with having a 30 year old "beast" as the starting catcher on a team that you think will be challenging for the AL West in 2018?

Because at this point everyone on the big club right now is trad-able..while trying to re-stock the minor and get new prospect..only if the deal is a good one obviously.

How long should they continue to trade their legitimate, young, under team control for a while, major league players for prospects?

You don't trade catchers that can hit and are solid defensively unless you're getting a kings ransom. Altuve though, I have no problem trading him at the deadline if you think you can get two good prospects for him. No way I would trade Castro though, he looks pretty good back there.

I think you stop trading for prospects once your top prospects are regulars at the major league level... Singleton, Springer, Folty, etc. I don't see that until probably the middle of next season or even the end of next season.

Also castro has not done this over a full year yet consecutive years...Corporan has almost similar numbers...if you get a good offer you pull the trigger..hth.
