Whitley redemption story begins this series; culminating in a dominant playoff run on the way to a WS win. LFG!!!
I can't agree with that. Maybe some of those solo HRs are 2 run HRs if he's batting 3rd. As much as I love Diaz, he's isn't "protection" for Alvarez. Alvarez does the protecting. Bregman has flourished in the 2 hole, thanks to Yordan. Now that's what you can't argue about. And that's where he'll be in the lineup when he returns.
The only thing I don't like about Bregman batting 2nd is his lack of speed. Does nobody else prefer Tucker or Pena there? Altuve Pena Tucker/Yordan Yordan/Tucker Bregman Diaz Singleton/Dubon Gamel Meyers Pena will see better pitches, beat out DPs, get infield hits, and steal a base -- same with Tucker. If teams walk Yordan afterwards, then Bregman is there to protect. Maybe it's too in the season to start making those kinds of changes to the lineup, but it already should've been happening IMO.
There is something to Yanier hitting into a ton of DPs due to Bregman and Yordan getting on base ahead of him. If Altuve or Pena was on base then we could steal or possibly get out of half of those.
Oh I've advocated Pena in the 2 hole going on 2 years now, but I've given up on that because we apparently will never do it, sadly. My preferred lineup is Altuve Pena Alvarez Tucker Bregman Diaz
They should sit Bregman again to buy him 2 additional rest days for that elbow since we're off tomorrow.
when was the last time astros had a weird off day in between series? i don't recall anything like this in the past 10 years. maybe i'm getting old
You’d be wrong. The best hitters in baseball are batting 2nd. Witt, Soto, Yordan. More AB’s leads to more production leads to more wins. Tucker could bat 2nd as well. Bregman’s not batting till his elbow is right. Maybe not till 2025. We shall see…
We are winning because the team era is like 2.80 the second half. Couple that with Diabetes being sneaky solid against righties at first base and the Astros out play the names on the back of their jerseys. Hopefully Tucker is back and the bad Meyers is gone until April when he is a 4th outfielder.
