The 2009 Astros offense has failed all year. Also, what is up with not playing Manzella, Johnson, etc? Why bring them up if they are not going to play?
I don't know but here's yet another reason why I pretty much exclusively read Zach Levine when it comes to Chron writers: There once was a guy named Manzella Who was really a very nice fella But day after day He got no chance to play And, come on, you're out of the playoff race, Miguel Tejada has a .655 OPS since the All-Star Break, he isn't getting any younger, you know exactly what he can and can't do, and I thought nobody was coming up unless he was going to contribute-ella. http://blogs.chron.com/unofficialscorer/2009/09/astros_am_report_streaks_and_a_1.html The guy is 95% hardcore, stats-based with his material but he always slips in a bit of humor along the way.
Towles, Manzella, Johnson and Maysonet barely playing makes little sense. Roy pitching with a disc problem makes little sense.
Why is old man Brocail still on our roster? Surely we'll be rid of him ASAP now, he's finished ffs. Our bullpen is a total joke as of now
And a new record was set tonight! Roy Oswalt got his 16th no-decision, the most by one pitcher in one season in club history. Wait, that sucks... Blame it on an offense that lacks both power and players who can draw walks. Even with Roy having a bad year, he did his job better than this offense did, collectively.
Yeah, but today's game wasn't a quality start. Shady disc or not in his back, it was a so-so start at best and the offense today at least lived up to their potential. Granted, I'll concede all year they've blown.
Yea, he wasn't very good or healthy tonight but I was talking about the 16 NDs as a whole. Despite him having a subpar season by his standards, he's done his job better than this offense has done their's.
A very good point. Wonder how our rotation will shape up with Paulino and Norris doing better these days. Maybe they can continue to do well and we'll see what they can do next season in a full body of work.
Have you seen who the club has called up and put in the pen? We have guys that were struggling in AA getting called up. Brocail is just an extra arm.
