Man, Griffey's completely lost his legs. Not sure he could beat Dunn in a footrace. That and his complete lack of effort on the bases & in the field is a bad combination.
Gar likes to follow lefty/righty logic even if the numbers don't dictate it. Scott is 5-10 against lefties this season. Lane is 4-26 and is 0-11 (now 0-12) against Milton in his career. It's like when Gar always uses Miller as his "lefty specialist" even when other pitchers are more effective against lefties than Miller is.
shouldn't pence be batting ahead of berkman and lee...since he does have a tendancy of getting on base more often?
Miller & Qualls put up virtually identical numbers against LHB last year, and were far and away the best in the pen, so I'm not really sure who these other pitchers are you're referring to. Miller's certainly struggled this year, but was outstanding last season. Do you want to bury him in the pen or try & work his way out of it?
On the lineup composition: Morgan's been swinging much better lately (1st inning notwithstanding) and has had just about zero luck getting balls to fall in. Loretta will be starting Thursday, with Biggio taking the day off. With Bruntlett playing every day CF in AAA (and having the ability to play a very good SS when nobody else but AE on the Stros can play even marginal SS), I can see Lane playing for his job these next couple of weeks. (and lookie there...rbi double) If Ryan Langerhans can get traded twice w/in 3 days, I'd imagine you could get something, anything, for Lane. I'm all for it. Bring back Bruntlett!!! On the pitching staff front: you've got White back real soon & Jennings hopefully to follow. Gar's said the 11 man staff isn't a problem. I'm guessing Albers gets sent down when White's ready, let Moehler take a couple of starts, and then when Jennings comes back you've got a whole 'nuther conundrum. Unless you can trade Moehler, but I wouldn't be too keen on giving up arms this early in the season.
What is the scoop with Berkman's HR last night and Lee's tonight? I missed both but a buddy said both were some monster monster shots.
They were... both picturesque, and very much recognizable right off the bat. Wandy is painting out there.
I take back my compliment about Wandy... just when you think he's "getting it", he gives up hard-hit RBI singles up the middle to the pitcher.
Griffey now 8-10, 3 BB, 2 HR off of Wandy. Ridiculous. At least the Reds pen will be in the game soon.
