Last year we would have lost this game 2-0.

    Still haven't won anything yet.

Josh Hamilton looks like an amazing low-risk/high-reward. Hell, they can now probably trade Griffey to some desperate AL team for decent prospects.

I'd like to get a better look at Lane.. 3 homers in limited at-bats.

Sampson's a real gamer. At what point should we start expecting quality starts from him every time out????

Its not like he's that hard to scout... he doesn't posses the type of stuff that "hitters have never seen before" (and hence they'd be lost the first times they face him).

He's simply got great command of the strike-zone, and when the sinker sinks like it should, he gets outs.

He would have gotten 25-30 HR's last year if he played everyday... but the club can't live with a guy who hits .200, no matter what his power capability.

That's pretty much what he is... a high strikeout, low walk, low average, power hitter.

Yeah I completely agree. He is the hitter that goes for the fences just about every time up and is all or nothing. We absolutely cannot have that in the lineup on a regular basis. I love having his bat on the bench for a late game PH situation where we need to just go for the HR. I think he is being used appropriately this season where he is getting off and on starts.

    He's our "bench" Adam Dunn.

I'm a Reds fan...ya, ya, whatever. All I have to say is the bullpen is what killed us last year, and will continue to kill us this year. I have no confidence in any reliever we throw out their...I know a lot of Reds fans are trying to blame Narron for putting in Cormier, but it really doesnt matter. Our bullpen sucks, and Narron is forced just throw someone out there and hope they dont blow it.

Yea...but its only 2 weeks into the season. Everytime they throw someone out there i'm praying they dont blow it. Weathers scares me the most.

I was intrigued when I saw them using Sarloos as the 8th inning guy earlier in the year. I always thought Captain Kirk was well-suited to late-inning bullpen work, given his awesome changeup (almost Hoffman-like). But, in the long run, I would be worried with any bullpen anchored by Weathers.

Except that he can't hit 40 HR's in a season, and would never draw 100 walks. Other than that, they're exactly the same. ;)

your bullpen doesn't suck. coming in to this game, the reds' bullpen had a combined 1.83 ERA. that's great.
