Someone pointed out Giles career whip to him like the first week of the season and he's been trolling non stop with it since. It's like a child just discovering this stat and he has to talk all about it. Giles hasn't had a good season, we know, but we don't need to know his whip for a third of an inning pitched and an altogether successful appearance.
Good win, damn good win. Losing this one would have started to feel like we were spinning our wheels again. Instead we have a great chance to a least split this series. Given how hot the Red Sox offense is right now, that would be a win IMO. Like I've said for the last few series, it's all about continuing to play good ball and avoid losing series. We don't need to go on a massive tear(although it would be nice)
I feel very confident that we will go on a tear at some point, most teams do. The goal will to be still in the race when that happens.
very solid win. Nice to see them able to come back against a good team.. and put up runs when needed in general.
Springer currently projected out to 162 35 HR 92 RBI 105 R .370 OBP .493 SLG .863 OPS Baseball Reference has his WAR at 2.1 (5th in the AL). Fangraphs is cooler on his defensive value, he is tied for 8th in the AL (1.5). That projects to 9.2 and 6.6 respectively, even if you choose to ignore the BBR number, 6.6 is still exceptional. His WAR for the last 2 seasons combined (616 PA still under a full season) stands at 5.8 and 5.2 for the 2 sites. He has backed up his K/BB rates from last year, while also getting that HR stroke back. Staying healthy is the only question, because he appears to be a great, great player.
He had a kid, more perspective now! My fiance was actually their attending nurse, said he's a nice guy. /coolstorybro
Every time the lineup card comes out I hope to see Gomez in the upper right hand corner Today is one of those days
