Rays swept the Yankees and Nationals at home prior to this series. They are playing great against some of the top teams in MLB.
They are 16-2 as a home underdog against the runline this year. They've only lost by more than 2 or more runs at home twice. The other 16 games they've either won, or lost by 1. Of those 18 games, only 4 games have been against non-aces. So they've been playing really well against the opposing team's aces or top of the rotation.
This, but also remember that Marwin is a better defensive 1B than SS. Alex at SS, Marwin at 1B, White at 3B would have been how I arranged the three. But of the three AAA guys, Davis's defense at 1B is the best. Earlier in the season, when Bagwell was talking about how great Yuli has become at 1B, he mentioned Marwin and even Davis as being great backups. In his limited opportunities, JD has shown his scooping, stretching, and "splits" skills.
and has the bases loaded twice this game already. not even mad honestly. he was due for regression. he was outperforming his xfip by nearly 2 runs
Got to laugh at Hinch continuing to play Marwin at SS when it's obvious to everyone in baseball except him that he can't play the position.
This game is a lost cause at this point. I know JV was due for regression but he’s been completely average for the month of June (except his 10K performance). Both he and Cole.
