Herrera has pitched mostly in a historic weak division in majors and has a worse FIP, xFIP than anyone currently in the pen. If Astros trade for someone, it isn't going to be for someone that might help. It will be for someone that rest of league, in Billy Beane's words, say F@$$ing A.
Eh, he hits a HR every now and then but overall he’s still a huge offensive liability. But so is Marwin these days.
Overall, sure. My comment was to who he has been lately (.308 BA, 1.015 OPS for June). http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/31195/jake-marisnick
Advanced stats aside, which in sure Joe Smith crushed before his contract, Herrera delivers with the right stuff and has the consistency you look for in a 1 inning closer. He was had cheaply. Giles is in his 3rd season as a stro, 2 of those with ERA's above 4, and has everything you dont want in a closer outside of a 100 mph fastball. Escaping from innings is the norm, not exception. Theres no point being in denial about it. McHugh. Peacock, Rondon Dev are fine, but not enough.
Giles has had 11 save opportunities. He has pitched 10 innings in those games. He has allowed 7 baserunners. He has allowed 0 runs. Not sure where you get your ‘escaping’ comment from this season.
Gonna be hard to leave him out now. If Moose is the Royals rep, it'll be between Escobar from the Twins and Bregman for the other backup 3B spot. Escobar is also in a mini-slump too. I think he got injured.
Please tell me we don't play the Rays again this year. They just seem to play balls to the wall against the Stros and over perform too much for my liking.
Damn, Ramos barely missed a grand salami lol. This month has basically been JV's regression. A sub 2 ERA was unsustainable with his peripherals. Rays have been sneaky good as a home underdog this year.
