Ran into the Arlington brick wall and the positional roster has some serious flaws. Flaws that are *potentially* correctable with bringing up some players from the minors but noooooooooo

Nothing good happens with the #AstrosinArlington (and apparently afterwards).

Fool's gold team like the team at 1510 Polk St.

The Astros give new meaning to the phrase "Road Kill".

This is a bad team. Most bad teams have a good stretch at times throughout the season like the Astros have had recently but overall this team is just not good enough to call themselves a legit contender. Like I said earlier in the year, as is this team is a 70 to 75 win team tops.

    Fister is 6-3 with a 3.34 ERA

I wouldn't go quite so far as to call them bad. But below average definitely fits.

Because of the bullpen, I'll upgrade them to mediocre to bad, but the lineup and starting rotation outside of Fister is bad.

Yup. I don't think its a matter of underachieving anymore, either. A majority of our roster is just flat out average or below average, with a handful of exceptions.

That said, I do believe in Luhnow's ability to construct a winning team. We're in the very early years of what (I think) will be a long run of sustainable competition. So, its not panic time...yet.

see i dont buy that crap. they should have built off of last seasons success in free agency, instead jim crane was cheap and didnt sign anyone. if we miss the playoffs i would seriously fire hinch if im luhnow.

Hinch may not be the answer, but Porter certainly was not.

The Doug Fister who was pitching out of the bullpen for Washington last year! 83MPH Fister is their best pitcher!

P.S. Tropicana Field is a dump. Worst field in the majors hand down.

I think you overestimate who was available and where those players wanted to go.

It also seemed the team was poised to get better with minor adjustments, which we did in the pitching department.

I do somewhat agree that we should have done more (anything?) to bolster our offense.

Right. Shows how disappointing this year has been that Fister can come in here and take over as ace. If I'm not mistaken, Keuchel even admitted Fister is the staff ace/best pitcher at this point.
