Carlos Gomez comes to Houston & he forgets how to play baseball. Jonathan Villar & Chris Carter go to Milwaukee and they're playing like all-stars. Jed Lowrie an injury-prone bum in Houston; healthy, solid MLB player in Oakland
First 4 innings Keuchel was as dominant as he has ever been. He had 8 strikeouts and only gave up 1 walk. I still have hope he can turn it around in the second half of the season.
second time I turned off an astros game this year. If they score 9 runs in the 9th, so be it. Other than his beard this dallas resembles nothing of dallas from last season. inexcusable.
Problem with Dallas is that he has had many outings where he looks sharp for a few innings...but then the wheels come off big time. I trust Dallas the least out of every single one of our starters.
Super 2 will be passing shortly. Thank God, really hoping Reed can add some much needed stability to the lineup.
Unfortunately for this whole team it's mental. This organization got ahead of schedule last year and just doesn't know how to handle it. The major league roster decisions have been poor, the offseason prep and coaching have been poor, and the budget to field a competitive team has been poor. It's either that or Hamels decision to join Texas over us has mind-bleeped Luhnow and Mission Control into stupidity.
Keuchel had a really bad inning but he wasn't getting hit hard. One bad inning gets magnified when your offense goes back in the tank anytime they step out of Minute Maid. Part of that 5 run inning was mental because if Altuve turns the DP, Keuchel likely gets out of that with only one run crossing the plate.
So I guess last year was just a fluke !!!! Everything just fell into place unlike this year where it's been pretty much a disaster !!!!!
They've been mediocre since June of last year. They've only had three really good months of baseball in the last 4 years. There are more moves to make and a roster that will be significantly different going into next season. I always want to make the playoffs but if losing now convinced Luhnow to jettison the dead weight and let the kids play everyday, then I'm all for it. Heck they could do that now and still have a shot at a wildcard if Bregman and Reed have instant success.
