The team's best hitter currently is a 20 year old hitting a rookie wall it appears. I don't consider anyone else on this roster a good hitter. Just a bunch of streaky hitters. Altuve like I expressed a few weeks back strikes me as a good hacker instead of a good hitter. Altuve's style is prone to prolonged slumps because he's not that selective at the plate. Now that the team has won more than expected, it's time to see how serious the front office is about winning this year by going out and improving this club soon offensively. Now they are down 3-1. They way this offense is going, this game is probably over.
It's not that they are struggling - this is just a really bad lineup. They are missing Lowrie and Springer (and should get used to missing those too), but there's a lot of trash in this lineup. Poor production at 1B, 3B, C, DH and now 1 OF spot means that Altuve and Correa (and to a lesser extent Rasmus) will make or break this offense.
Maybe the bullpen isn't as deep as a lot of people thought either when Hinch continues to have to use guys like Qualls and Thatcher on a regular basis...
