Whatever happened to pitcher needs to get used to a different catcher in case their personal catcher gets hurt...?

Maldy will never miss a game, he's a rusty robot.

    Everything I said still applies.

maldy should not be catching when we face a righty. Really, he should never catch.

Only applies one way. He already told you he hadn’t thought about the opposite way.

Well ****, I was expecting Chas to be benched, along with Diaz, today so not everything is negative for me. Don’t forget that we’re living in Dusty Senile Fantasyland.

Sorry if it’s been addressed - Brantley sitting again? Is he hurt (again)?

I'm pretty sure the Astros are worried about noth Brantley and Yordan playing on that turf.

    Being extra sorry.

However I do love the idea of Brantley pinch hitting in a tied or close game with runners on base.

    Vs this bullpen especially

With the way baseball works and team control, young players don't really have a choice. No one getting drafted now is going to base their decision to sign with the team on Dusty's 2023 lineup cards. They'll be looking at the organizations player development system, any bonus, and whether they won't to play (another) year of college ball.

You've made me feel better about Brantley potentially ph for McCormick instead of Singleton.

Chas will be 32 when he's eligible to be FA in 2027. Dusty's won't be managing the Astros at that point, and maximizing his guaranteed career earnings is almost certainly going to be Chas' priority as a free agent.

I guess you could argue Gunnar Henderson woulda got it anyway but Yainer woulda been close to 40 bombs. Plus he’s a surprisingly good catcher.

I was just sitting here thinking....if I was manager....no way I can start Maldy over Diaz. I'm sure Diaz is good enough to be able to work with Framber and JV. It's not like either pitcher has been lights out lately with Maldanado.

I couldn't do it Dusty. I think you're wrong. Need offense. Look at yesterday afternoon. Needed at least 7 runs to win that game. I'll take my chances with Diaz over Maldy.

Because Mike might fall and drive his shoulder into the turf?

Brantley has like a 700 ops against LHP over the last 5 years and he’s clearly not an every day guy. He should never start against LHP. He should Ph late against bullpen right handers. He should start every game against RHP. this is maybe the only logical thing Dusty has done all year. Embrace it.

Dusty knows that even if Maldy died, Maldy would just hide it from the team so that he could continue being the starter. Might have fewer passed balls...

I guess so but they didn't start him in LF last year due to the turf...
