Its hard to stay on top. The team seems at time to be complacent. Not really competing at as high a level as they are capable of. Couple this with injuries, a manager who makes questionable judgments not just occasionally but seemingly all the time. You end up with a team this year that at times seems mediocre but you look up at the standings and we are amazingly only one game out of the division lead. Despite being swept at home twice in the past few weeks by Seattle and the Yankees. In between they go to Boston and play their best baseball of the season. I absolutely have no idea what to expect the rest of the season. We may win the division or we may continue to flounder and miss the playoffs completely. I have given up on trying to know what to expect out of this years team.
I sense that too. Maybe more internal friction at the FO than we have assumed? At the coaching level? Both? Between one and the other? It reads to me like the guys are distracted by something, particularly at home.
So we have the Home woes right Astros OPS at MMP Yainer .972 Chas .948 Alvarez .841 Bregman.798 Altuve .782 Tucker .768 We have two players who have crushed the ball at home this year. Both sat yesterday, one of them got a total of 3 AT BATS in the series Now on the road Yordan 1.094 Altuve 1.003 Tucker .986 Bregman .821 Chas .806 Diaz .706 So yea, i'm sure little johnnie will give us more Chas and Diaz now
He just cannot help but send another “I’m in charge” message. Diaz and Chas in, but at bottom of the lineup after “the regulars” Pena and Abreu.
He sent that message to Chas LONG ago. Trust me, Chas knows that his "manager" doesn't like him. So do all of Chas teammates
Now Pena has earned the right to bat 2nd again. Breggy cleanup. I have followed MLB for 50 years and I can't recall a team that has used so many different lineups in one season.
on paper, you'd think we were the 27 yankees with two hitters at (0.874/0.841 OPS) hitting 7/8 in the lineup. then you realize its a dusty baker managed team
