    Once again

Stros had a 3-run inning and Rangers scored 2 total

Would be interesting to go thru all games for the exact current % in MLB

Nice to the Astros taking care of business this weekend. It has not happened enough against teams like the Rangers this year. Now, need the sweep tomorrow

In your 41 years of watching Astro baseball, how many times have you seen a pitcher shake off Maldy's signs?

i guess you and someone else took my post the wrong way. Like that I said he should be replaced. I really wasn’t asking for anyone to defend Maldy, I think hes a great catcher. I was just wondering if we ever had a starting catcher that hit for that kinda average before. I suppose I could just look it up but then there isn’t any fun conversation involved.

How many teams with a catcher hitting below the Mendoza line have ever won a WS?

I mean Ausmus was a better hitter than Maldy and he won no championships.

The thing that bothers me is next year I think Lee is really good and Click is committed to two catchers hitting below he Mendoza line. I understand the need for a catcher that pitchers like to throw to and framing/blocking/throwing etc... but you gotta hit above the Mendoza line.

I’m just glad Framber is looking like a Game 1 starter again. Assuming we start the playoffs at MMP…

    Framber
    McCullers
    Grienke
    Garcia/Odorizzi

Luis Pujols, John Bateman, Jerry Grote, Brad Ausmus (by OPS+)

remember, I said full timers, minimum 100 starts.. Ausmus was never below the Mendiza that I can remember. I know Pujols was under .200 but not sure he was a full timer.

John Bateman did hit below .200 a couple of times but never as the full time starter. The years where he had 100 starts or more he hit above the Mendoza.

Not sure about best starting pitchers since the rotation is basically 3. I really believe Greinke is done. Framer, McCullers, and Garcia? Need to step up big time. Love our bullpen in the playoffs.
We could trade either next year. They are both solid backup catchers. If they think Lee is ready and they are ready to start the big league clock on him, they will bring him up. If we win the WS with Maldi behind the plate then this is kind of mute. I, too, would be excited to see a full 9 man lineup without any black holes. If Lee is as advertised and we re-sign Correa, what an incredble lineup!
