Not worried about this weekend's series... but the playoffs start Monday. Given that teams have taken at least 5-7 days to stop/curtail any sort of mini-outbreak (even a fake one like Oakland had when they didn't want to get swept in Houston), I'm worried what impact that would have on a potential playoff series.
Will they open the roof at the sardine can again tonight? Minimum 10 runs is 100% odds for Astros if they do
Oh man, love that moment. Remember coming home, turning on the TV and watching the celebration. Kept watching and loving when they reported about the coneheads. Man, that was a great team that came within a whisker of knocking off the eventual champions.
I went to Game 1 of the NLCS that year and it was one of the loudest experiences I've ever been apart of. When Davis hit the homer in the 2nd, I swear, the roof was about to pop off, it was so loud. I remember after the game, the Mets players mentioned the noise level in the stadium and it was a great feeling. I also remember the postgame Astros radio guy, can't remember his name, but he came into the series saying that the Astros had no chance and would get swept...he was completely flabbergasted after Game 1...believe he ended up having to leave town after the series...people hated his guts. If only we could have got it to Game 7 with Scott pitching again...what might have been. The guys tried their hardest, though...that Game 6 was insanity. Fun team...definitely have fond memories of them.
It is pretty startling how quick that ballpark changes from the Astrodome (roof closed) to Coors Field (roof open). It’s a transformer!
Playoffs start Tuesday. Monday is a travel day. Only games that could happen Monday are a double header between the Cardinals and Tigers if necessary.
Are teams popping champagne and beer bottles if they make the playoffs this year? Astros to be the first team to do that in the Rangers new park would be hilarious
Agree. Also I vividly remember someone here (or on TCB, where I lurk but don't post) saying they didn't like Tucker for a "lack of hustle". I never thought that of him but it always makes me happy when he does something (like that) to prove that statement wrong.
