Good win. Anything less than a sweep will be disappointing. Also just saw Ohtani out for several weeks at least, may need TJ surgery. Big loss for the Angels. Now if the ****ing Mariners would stop winning 1 run games
I love beating the Rangers more than any other team in the league. Would never tire of beating them every day. Maybe twice on Sundays.
Yeah, it's a shame but I'm not exactly totally shocked that yet another NPB pitcher comes to MLB and needs arm surgery within a couple of years.
I see that the Mariners won yet another one run game. This is getting to be 2016 Rangerish. Very annoying.
Oh wow, the Rangers fans have turned on Odur. Well it was bound to happen as he has not been very good or consistent for a while.
Everybody loves their own players if they play well. When they play like dog s**t suddenly you hate the guy even more than everybody else. Everything about Odor sucks. His personality, his performance, hell even his name and family are embarrasing.
Pitching was good and the Offense balled. Astros have scored TWO Runs or less ONCE in the last 20 games. Minuscule Point Totals were a theme first month and a half. Times have changed.
I remember well. Couldn't find any convincing reason why then, probably not for this either. Outliers like this with little to no basis can change in a moments notice. This anomaly will swing in another direction eventually. Very annoying indeed.
One thing to keep in mind is that their last two one run games have resulted with them giving up late inning runs. Gave up 2 runs in 8th in one game, 3 runs in 9th in another. Another recent 1 run victory, came with them giving up the tying run in the 9th and then winning in extras. So, the glass half full perspective is that their late inning relief seems to be having problems.
I didn't go look at their stats. Sounds like their starters had been giving them leads. Maybe that can change
You just have to hope that eventually balances out over the course of a season. Let's see if they can continue to win one run games against tougher competition.
For what it's worth...I have been curious as to how the Astros shifting actually affects their run differential. Recently Arrieta complained about the Phillies shifts, so there was an article on ESPN. Here's a blurb: Arrieta was referring to his own team's ineptitude at shifts, which is supported by data. According to Baseball Info Solutions, the Phillies have lost eight runs due to their shifting strategies this season, worst in baseball. (The overall Philly defense is at minus-53 runs saved, also last.) Only two other teams (Dodgers and Pirates) are negative in the shift category. On the other end of the spectrum, the Astros have saved 17 runs with the shift, one more than the Kansas City Royals. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23724818/to-shift-not-bullpen-shuttle-mlb-next-big-thing
