Laugh away... but only one of those 4 guys legitimately has a future with this club. I'm all for playing the best possible lineup at all times. Right now, the Astros aren't going to win a lot of games with half the lineup playing at A ball level (and besides Gomez, none of the struggling players really has that strong of a track record that we can expect a huge rebound).
Correa not getting his hands close enough to his body on these inside pitches that have been thrown to him in this slump. Not making good contact at all.
I don't disagree with that But calling a player trash because of a bad 13 games Then saying for another it's a small sample size Whatever floats people's boat
For god sake. Don't actually hit the ball when someone is on base. Obviously I will take a solo shot over an out. But damn. Is that the only time these guys can put wood on the ball. When the bases are clear?
Seems the Rangers have had runners on every inning Leadoff f***** double, now another hit before retiring anyone. What a crap season, so far.
Why do you play a shift if you aren't going to be consistent with it? Beltre's first AB, Correa was right where Beltre hit the ball in his 3rd AB. That is dumb.
So much for US Houston sport fans excited bout our basketball and now baseball seasons. I wonder if Astros singing same tune Rockets were early in season
The wheels may have fallen off but they can be put back on. Remember when some were blaming the weather for the poor start? It's just cold. They're not used to it. They'll warm up when they leave New York.
Would never call a player trash or a god based on 13 games. My views of Valbuena/Gattis go more along how much "better" do I really expect them to get. They can both still be contributors to a winning team... but do I think either of them will all-of-a-sudden flip a switch and become consistently the type of guy who opposing teams actually go out of their way to worry about? So yeah, if there are prospects with major potential, who are on the cusp (even with Reed's sluggish start), I'm going to push to see what they can do... moreso when the team looks like they're collectively sleep-walking in the RISP/base-running department/fundamentals department.
Carlos Gomez now has over 200 at bats since joining the Astros and has around a 610 OPS. To say that is really bad is an understatement. He honestly doesn't deserve to be playing. Then again that isn't anything unique on the Houston Astros. Jason Castro has a 625 OPS the last two seasons. Evan Gattis is the Astros DH the last two seasons and has an OBP of around .255 as a ****ing DH. AJ Hinch regularly plays these clowns and doesn't pinch hit for them at crucial parts of the game. Combined they are a third of the line up and have a sub .300 OBP over the last two years. Further complicating the issue, the Astros do not have a third baseman. When 4 out of your 9 hitters in the line up are absolutely atrocious, it doesn't matter what Correa, White, Springer, Altuve and Rasmus do. Teams can pitch around them or survive against the occasional Correa or Rasmus solo homer. That doesn't even address a rotation filled with a bunch of 4-5 starters and is extremely dependent on an ace.
What in the flying f is wrong with our shifts this year. Might be SSS but we've been getting destroyed by them.
