Only thing stopping the '16 Stros is injury. Clutch hitting will improve due to growth and experience. There will be less blunders and weird happenings. Pitching will improve.... Giles is settling down, McCullers will return, and Fiers will regain similar form to last season.
yep agreed... and no one running away or capitalizing from the Astros playing bad..Rangers in 1st place with 6 losses and Astros got 9....long season marathon
For those interested Brian T Smith, the writer of that Chron article, will be on 105.3 in Dallas at 8:30 Am tomorrow
get back to us on sunday when we are 7 back. tomorrow's a blowout, then we will cave under pressure thurs whether keuchel pitches well or not. team is mentally weak. can't handle the road. it's a problem.
and then we can circle back around at the end of the regular season too and see where all this lines up =)
That is Hinch been Hinch Devenski is pitching too good to be used in mop up situations, what about using Fields in that capacity and start using Devenski in clutch ones???? Well, that is Hinch at his best. Everybody sees it, he does NOT. This team has not played real good baseball (consistent) Since April 2015. After that we are just an average .500 team or below. Why are we so good, because we won 1 game in NY? Because we played a good series vs KC THAT WE LOST???? Yes, another Series LOST. This year we've lost ALL SERIES but 1. We've said our rotation is NOT good enough, but what do we do? Sign Fister??? Thats all? With Cueto, Greinke, Maeda as FA, we got FISTER????? Yesterday GAttis hitting 5th??? A lineup with Gattis hitting 5th is just not good enough. Please, play Rasmus even against lefties, PLEASE.
I think these are going to be the moves: First Hoyt Second Moran Third Reed Fourth Feliz as a reliever and move Devenski to rotation
Half our lineup have batting averages like pitchers. Bench them all. Half of our pitchers have an era over 6.00. Why are they pitching? It's simple math right now. The team is sucking out. 20 games in you kinda know who is bringing it and who is not. Make some adjustments.
Josh Fields is beyond infuriating. It was pretty clear from the 1st batter that he didn't need to be in there.
Pretty sure Fields will be dropped farther down the pecking order. In the meantime, let's get some hits with runners on-base and a few quality starts from guys without extreme facial hair.
The amount of people freaking out after 16 games is ridiculous. It's a tenth of the season and they're only down by three games in the division. There is PLENTY of season left.
He's been consistently inconsistent. But unfortunately, if he can't play the role of "keep them at bay so we can make a comeback" bullpen guy... what role can he play? Certainly wouldn't rely on him to protect leads. As I said earlier, if the end result of having a couple of early season terrible starting pitching outings... along with some bullpen wavering.... is discovering Devenski (who could fit in either as a back of bullpen guy or a potential starter), that's not a bad thing to figure out this early.

Usually I'm not the one to cry over stuff like this, but is it too early to say that the trades we made over the past year have hurt us? Hindsight is 20/20, so it's not Luhnow's fault, but Velasquez is pitching very well. Domingo Santana looks like a completely different player, Hader had 14 K's last game in the minors.
Rangers most clutch hitting team in baseball and Astros least. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.as...0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=11,d
