Castro isn't going to be relegated to a Kratz-like role. Offense from the catcher just isn't going to be that big of a priority. Now, when you have no production from CF and 3B on top of it... then yes, it seems to be much more important. Best-case scenario is Gattis puts up the consistent numbers he did after the early season slump while catching once a week and DH'ing against lefties and occasional righties.
2.70 ERA in 10IP with 9 SO Kind of early too tell.... Musgrove has looked good so far 12.1 IP; .73 ERA; 14 SO Just looked it up we are dead last in the AL in ERA and WHIP while offensively we are near the top in most categories. Need McCullers back and let's see how the rotation looks. I'd hate to part with one of Bregman, Reed, and Moran along with Musgrove or Martes but that's what it will take for another arm at the deadline.
Is that the late Erik Gregg behind the plate? That was a foot outside. NO reason for Astros pitchers to try and throw a pitch any place else.
Hitting with risp is a weakness so far and it was looking like the offense was much improved this year coming into the regular season.
Definitely... but tonight, the ump is just not seeing that specific area of the plate well, regardless of the handedness of the batter. Field and Castro should be pounding that same spot over and over again.
