All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PVP that can be found from other sources if you need it. First time all season facing a lefty starter... on paper, this team should fare pretty well against lefties, but it will also require some slight adjusting after facing so much right-handed pitching to start the season.
Unfortunately for this series, I'm stuck with the sophie's choice of listening to the Rangers' insufferably terrible announcers or listening to the unintriguingly terrible Ashby. There is no good option here.
I would put Ashby as possibly the 3rd worst announcer in baseball...with the 2 for the rangers coming in at a strong 1 and 2.
I've been listening to the opponent's broadcasts all season, I might have to suck it up and try to tolerate Ashby. The Rangers guys are that bad.
Thank God a real HOU team is playing again. Team really struggled @Arlington last season. I'll take a series victory anyway we can get it (save injury).
He's semi-retired. He's going to be doing less and less games/series, but he should be around for this series and the home series against the Red Sox (with Blum coming back for the west coast trip).
Doesn't look like weather will be a factor this series, small chance of some light showers. Arlington did get close to 4" of rain the past 2 days, most newer stadiums have great drainage so hopefully theirs does as well.
Yeah, didn't realize they were rained out on Sunday. Hard to believe that stadium, while being "newer", is actually 22 years old (by comparison, when the Astrodome was 22 years old... it was undergoing the renovations to take out the iconic scoreboard and put in the football seats, in order to make it 'up to date').
His voice has definitely semi-retired, if not all retired. Just doesn't have it like he used to. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vM14Y-8jSBU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I really wish they were grooming a successor for Brownie on the road trips instead or having Ashby do the play by play. Ashby's constant old man comments drive me up the wall. I don't know how many more times I can stomach having to hear him go on about the importance of quality batting practice before games. I swear he does it at least once every game.
Yep. Don't underestimate the effect of the loss of Deshaies on Brownie... they had such a good chemistry together. That was a great call, and wasn't that long ago (2007). Brownie/Ash is horrible (mainly due to Ash)... and Brown at times has to work to get a few words in, while Ash is streaming his never-ending verbal diarrhea.
