Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread). 6-16 Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (5-5, 2.82) vs. Kevin Millwood, RHP (6-4, 2.72) 7:05 on FSN 6-17 Russ Ortiz, RHP (3-2, 3.48) vs. Matt Harrison, LHP (4-4, 5.43) 7:05 on FSN 6-18 Roy Oswalt, RHP (3-3, 4.37) vs. Vicente Padilla, RHP (5-3, 4.82) 7:05 on FSN
Fairly even pitching matchups. WLW. I don't feel confident in Ortiz against the Rangers bats. Ortiz has been great as of late though, so I'll just pray it continues.
The pathetic Indians bullpen handed the Brewers a win yesterday. Did anybody else watch that miserable game? We'd be 3.5 games back if not for that choke job.
On and off. I wasn't watching when they blew it for good. I got on last night and saw your post about it, and was really hoping they hadn't finally blown the game completely. The Indians offense kept trying to bail the pitchers out.
I watched the entire debacle, unfortunately. Just one game but it hurt being both an Indians and Astros fan. Tonight, the Tribe has a soft-tossing underachiever going against Gallardo so odds are in the Brewers favor, esp. once the Indians turn to their bullpen.
Ermmm, Wandy's been much better on the road this year. This Rangers series sucks worse than your average Rangers series. I mean, it sucks because we're playing the freaking Rangers, for crying out loud, and because someone in power thinks it's a "rivalry", and because the last few years we suck so badly that we actually *lose* to the Rangers. To the freaking Rangers for Pete's sake.... But it's even worse than usual, because of last year's Rangers series. The Astros had crawled out of a brutally poor start to the year (yet again) and were on one HOT winning tear. They had nearly swept a west coast swing and were finishing the road trip in Arlington. They had several come-from-behind victories in the road swing; it was great. It was fun. Then they went into Arlington, got their asses kicked in spectacular fashion, and proceeded to swim in the toilet until like late August. So, here we are again, after a promising stretch, going into Arlington. The only way to enjoy this series, this waste of three games in the junior circuit against an also-ran team with no history, is to beat the ever-living you-know-what out of them. Too bad they're gonna get swept again. LLL
hasn't ortiz been bad starting most of the time? agreed on the other 2, aside from the very recent from RoyO I go WWW. No Hamilton, pitching is on.. just gotta hope for something out of Russ and hope we get to Millwood after his recent success
4.43 ERA as a starter which isn't that good, but throw in with game against the Pirates where he took over for Paulino in the 2nd inning, he would have a sub-4 ERA as a starter. The biggest problem with Ortiz as a starter is he hasn't gone a full 6 innings this year, so you have to use your pen.
Two big events: 1. Bourn just matched his extra base hit total from all of last season with a leadoff double. 2. Tejada walked (rare event).
