There have been a few plays over the past few games that have seemingly cost the Astros a number of runs (providing everything else in those innings would have unfolded the same way). - Missed DP in the Angels game when Qualls pitched - Missed grounder in the first inning last night that led to a run scoring single. Even the Rangers' announcers acknowledged that Everett gets to that ball. - Routine grounder when (for whatever reason) Loretta apparently let the runner on 2nd distract him, which led to Lofton's infield single, which contributed to the 8 run inning. - Bruntlett making the nice play over the middle (not that tough a play) and then throwing the ball away. There have been a few others. None show up statistically as errors, but on a normal day Everett makes those plays with ease.
absolutely...i've been keeping count but that one last night...they didn't give loretta an error...but i'm thinking even a very pedestrian defensive SS makes that play.
I agree with all of you that Everett does make those plays, however, you guys cant deny how much better the offense is without him in the lineup.
I hate the stereotypical images of Texas. Fox should superimpose Hank, Boomhauer, Dale, and Bill sitting in the first row.
LOL @ Ausmus' starting lineup. "Mike "Power of the Unibrow" Lamb... ROFL." "Orlando Palmeiro... Didn't even know he was still on the team." "Overpaid and overplayed Brad Ausmus" "Grimacing Luke Scott..."
Gerald Laird sounded like a r****d when announcing the lineup. He's no Ausmus (who was pretty funny).
yeah, mike lamb's hitting a ton better now that everett is out. pence waited until everett got hurt to get out of his mini-slump. i don't see how the two are related..particularly since everett was batting well in the two weeks or so leading up to his injury.
I didnt mean specific hitters, what I meant was that the line-up now has more pop and is balanced. I hate the Rangers. I love how the Astros fans can be heard in their stadium. One of these years I am going to make the trip up there for the series.
Come on Astros. We need some ninth inning magic! I believe in this team. I think they have too much talent to be as bad as their record. I am beginning to wonder if Garner has lost the team.
