how would anybody complain??? brocail just gave up a hr and put 3 more straight runners on. anybody in their right mind would rather see valverde blow the game than brocail at that point.
We are going to become the Tampa Bay Rays of old. (Until 1. we get a farm system, and 2. develop those players in the farm system to become at least halfway decent major league ballplayers and others reasons that I cant quite think of, haha.)
You know damned well that if Valverde had blown the game in almost the exact same manner as he did in Atlanta, that somebody would be saying that Coop should have known better. Whether right or wrong, it would have happened. It happened all the time with Lidge, even when he was on his game.
God, we are awful. We just can't get outs when we need to or hit when we need to. I love the Stros, but I am sick of watching a loser
I knew those idiots would find a way to lose. The bullpen just isn't clutch right now. Brocail isn't a bad pitcher by any means (if you take away his last two outings). He has an occassional bad outing but has been pretty consistent for us. I think the issue is more our starters cannot give us enough innings. Therefore, we end up using so many relief pitchers to complete the game, that one of them is bound to have a bad pitching day and cost us the game. The days of having a starter that can go 7, bring in the set-up guy for the 8th, and the closer for the 9th...are history with the Astros nowadays for most games. We're lucky if our starter goes 5 innings these days. In this game, it is excusable because of the long rain delay. You bring in 4 or 5 relievers on top of the starter, then you better hope that they all brought their stuff that game. It only takes one of them to mess up a good thing...as we are seeing continually over and over again. Bringing in that many relievers continually game after game is a recipe for losers...especially with our up-and-down relievers. What also pisses me off is our offensive output late in games sucks. It seems the more the game goes on...the colder the bats go.
seems like valverde isn't the type of pitcher to bring in with runners on, he is best suited playing in the 9th with nobody on and no out. We shouldn't have traded Wheeler for Wigginton a while back.
Well, in case you're wondering it's supposed to rain all night here again. For those familiar with Pittsburgh weather over the past two months: this shouldn't surprise you.
Yup, pretty much. Not only that but i'm going on vacation for my birthday next week in Florida and guess what......HURRICANE BERTHA, BABY!!!! ....I can't win
Haha, right....in your dreams. By the way, Jon Van Benschoten is like the worst starting pitcher in the history of baseball. If you guys beat us tonight congrats!
i think they will lose....albeit my intuition is telling me were due to win right about now. then, we can win a few and go on another losing streak.
I just turned on the game and we give up a couple runs. Kind of reminds me of when the Astros play. Why can't I ever catch the offensive innings? Oh yeah bc Astros defense dominates... the play time.
I originally came in here to say why send Wigginton on a hit and run with Boredn hitting? Am I the only one that notices that Bjorn is not hitting well this year?! The other thing is why am I watching this game? My 3 year daughter said cmon dad let's watch the Astros. Never again...never again. Next time I'm a gonna give her a time out for askin!!!
