That will just make Roy mad... he will drive his bulldozer to Shea, and make sure Pujols knows how bad he made him look on his way to the 2005 NLCS MVP award. Also, Roy will have plenty more shots at this for the next 5 years... post-contract Roy is pitching like a first-ballot HOFer.
Incorrect. Walks are never useless. Having a high on base percentage is never useless. It's part of offensive production no matter what. His walk numbers are also a reflection of his plate discipline. Plate dicipline is a positive skill. Deal with the fact that Ensberg has been very productive this season, posting a respectable RC/G of 6.3.
Lets put another run or 2 on the board.... You know the Cardinals are sitting in their clubhouse watching this game....
Andy and Roy both seem to do the same thing. They cruise along and then there's usually one inning where it reaches a breaking point where the game turns one way or another.
Of course it's not entirely useless - it's better than an out. However, it doesn't contribute much to scoring or winning in the 6th spot in *our* lineup. Yup, that's why he's been benched for most of the 2nd half.
So everything Phil Garner does is automatically right? I'm not saying I necessarily agree or disagree, but that's silly logic. Managers have and will make mistakes all the time.
I could fire up Excel and do a regression analysis on the importance of on base percentage to offensive production, but I really don't want to. Instead, I'm just going to say that you have no idea what you are talking about and you are just going to have to take my word for it, thanks.
The Astros are definitely the team of destiny this year. To play like they did for 2/3 of the season and still come back and win the division is unbelieveable. The Cardinals are going to fold like egg whites, book it...
