If both the Cards and 'stros are tied Sunday nite why not skip SF and Pitt and go directly to a 1-game p/o? If only it could be done (and the winner's pitching staff is not so decimated for the p/o's and WS).

if we get to that point, it means we did a whole lot better than the Cards. I'd rather let them play a relatively tough team (sans Bonds) and let us play a team we've beaten 3 straight times..

    From Justice on chron.com ...

"The Astros and Pirates settled in for a long rain delay Thursday afternoon. The game was scheduled to start at 11:30 CDT, and National League officials told the two clubs to be prepared to wait until around 5 p.m. to see if there's any chance of playing it."

    Today's starting lineup:

    W. Taveras CF
    M. Ensberg 3B
    L. Berkman 1B
    L. Scott LF
    C. Burke 2B
    J. Lane RF
    A. Everett SS
    B. Ausmus C
    R. Oswalt P

Why Lane is in there is anybody's guess?

Garner is playing the percentages. Lane is a righthanded batter. Gorzelanny is a lefthanded pitcher. Its all about the matchups just like in the Simpsons when Homer pinch hits for Daryl Strawberry. It didn't matter that Strawberry was 9 for 9 with 9 homeruns and 27 RBIs, as he was still replaced by Homer, a righthanded batter. As history has shown, Lane should get a walkoff HBP tonight.

This is really annoying... something tells me they shouldn't even bother trying to play today, and having Oswalt out there is going to cost us something.

Starting to rain pretty hard again.

Still looking at Radar, and it really looks like it is going to open up without rain here in a little bit

Its gonna be important to get ahead early in this one because new rain could come in at any time and we don't want to be behind after the 5th inning

What would be crappy is if they call the game after the game is official and the Astros are losing.

Yeah, were that to happen and we lose the division by 1 game, you would hear some major b****ing about the 5th inning rule.
