Woody starts the inning by plunking Rolen. That's not good.

Pads back on top 2-1 in the 4th. :D The longer that game hangs in the balance, the more the Cards are going to sweat and the more the fans are going to go on the verge of catatonic. :D :p

Oh yeah, good job Stros 6-3 over half way there. Keep it up! :D :)

You've got to be kidding me. Ronnie Belliard with another homer. Cards lead 3-2.

    Fat-ass Belliard with another HR.

Cardinals fans still hate him though.

At least the Cards aren't fooled by Woody Williams' smoke and mirrors fastball... something the Astros couldn't figure out all those years.

He's a fat-ass who looks like he's just playing for a paycheck (which he probably is). They got him from Cleveland.

Pettite tried to field the bat there... bad luck.

The Padres absolutely cannot allow another run. You cannot expect to get more than 4 off Carpenter at home. He'll probably go the distance to avoid the atrocious bullpen.

One positive... Carpenter is already at 65 pitches through only 4 innings. If the Padres can get to the St. Louis bullpen for even one inning, they'll have a chance.

    Inning over.

If the Padres can just get it to the Card's pen...

That guy is bigtime overweight, looks like some wannabe thug or something, probably why the StL fans hate him.

I think you'd need an army of thousands to remove Carpenter from that mound tonight... the Cardinals know they have to stop the bleeding.

That, and the fact that before these last two weeks, he was pretty atrocious at the plate for them. They probably should have never let Grudzelanek go.

Typically, yes. But the Padres are hitting the ball very well. Their runs haven't come from well-placed bloopers... they're hitting him hard. If he fatigues a little more, he could become very hittable.

I agree. They'll have to knock him around to chase him.

    Pettite removed.
